Inpatient Services

Generally inpatient services are designed to provide a safe environment to stabilize someone who is a danger to themselves or others. Admission is through emergency rooms. Many local hospitals have short-term inpatient stabilization units. Those that do not have such units will keep the person safe until they can transport them to a hospital that does have a short-term inpatient unit.

UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital’s Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES)

A mental health crisis can happen in an instant, and immediate treatment may be needed.

UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital’s Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES), located in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood, is open 24 hours a day for people of all ages.

They offer a safe and secure treatment setting, including a separate area for child and adolescent patient. Each patient meets with a team of specialty trained physicians, nurses, and clinicians who are committed to providing the best emergency care.

AHN Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital Units

Sometimes life feels too difficult to handle. When you are facing a serious mental illness, such as severe mood disorders, or a personality disorder, you might benefit from intensive treatment in an inpatient psychiatric hospital.

AHN’s experienced, licensed psychiatrists, psychologists, and other behavioral health providers specialize in helping adults regain control of their lives through intensive psychiatric therapy. AHN offers traditional treatments, including individual, group, and family therapy.

Butler Hospital Patient Assessment Services Department (PAS)

The Patient Assessment Services Department (PAS) is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Patient Assessment Services Department will work together with you to begin to identify and understand the psychological, psychiatric or emotional challenges you’re facing. Their comprehensive psychiatric assessment is designed to provide an evaluation and inform your treatment.

Pittsburgh Mercy Crisis Center

Pittsburgh Mercy offers many behavioral health programs and services to support you in your recovery and help you live well in the community.
Options for adults range from ambulatory (outpatient) treatment, diversion and stabilization services, and mental health rehabilitation and recovery services, to employment and residential programs. All of their services are designed to help you live well in the community.
